I use "When Hope Is Not Enough" moisturizer under any powder foundation, to avoid the powder caking. I like being able to select my own moisturizer instead of using a liquid foundation. This powder foundation is nice. I used a loose powder foundation prior to this one, and find that I prefer the compact because it's easier to use and more portable. One compact lasted me about 4 months before the middle was almost gone. The only down side to a compact is that it's harder to apply the powder evenly when the middle of the compact is used up. The Jane Iredale powders are either peach or yellow based. I wish they offered a blue base or more neutral colored base. I have fair, "winter" skin, so peach and yellow bases aren't ideal. It's best when applied lightly. The coverage is excellent with just a little.
